The Reserve Club is hosting an event you definitely won’t want to miss!
This is your opportunity to get hands on with the da Vinci Xi® Robot used for minimally invasive surgery at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
The da Vinci Xi® Robotic Surgical System
Aiken Regional Medical Centers
Benefits
Robotic surgery involves a small incision and allows the surgeon to maneuver into confined spaces within the body with 3D magnification while providing a greater range of motion and precision with specialized instruments.
A major advantage of minimally invasive robotic surgery for patients is that procedures require only a very small incision, about the size of a pencil eraser. While traditional open surgery allows the surgeon to work in an open area, larger incisions can be painful and take longer to heal.
The da Vinci Xi® Robotic Surgical System at Aiken Regional Medical Centers allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures that can offer many patient advantages, including
- Reduced pain and trauma
- Less blood loss
- Less pain
- Shorter hospital stays
- Reduced risk of infection
- Quicker recovery time
- Less scarring
- More precise surgery
Types of Surgeries
The da Vinci Xi® Robot is used in general, gynecologic and urologic robotic surgeries at the hospital.
A list of procedures can be viewed here: Aiken Regional Robotic Surgery.
Super Users
General surgeons Lorenzo Sampson, MD, FACS, and Frank Chase, MD, FACS, both earned the status of da Vinci® Super User in 2023 and combined have performed more than 900 surgeries using robotic technology.
Event
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the robotic surgeons and get hands on with the da Vinci Xi® Robot used for minimally invasive surgery at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
- Join us at one of Aiken Regional’s upcoming events to learn more about the benefits of minimally invasive robotic surgery and test your driving skills on the da Vinci® simulator. Both events are free and open to the public.
