Aiken Senior Life Services (ASLS), a private, charitable non-profit agency, has been serving the people of Aiken County for over 50 years with its services and programming.  Located in the Anne & Cot Campbell Center at 1310 East Pine Log Road.

ASLS provides Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors in Aiken County and transportation services for essential shopping, employment, and doctors’ appointments.   Most recently, however, the agency is now offering Enrichment programming not just for seniors but for the whole community – lectures, art classes, music, outdoor adventures, fitness classes, bus tours, and clubs.

“Our community is hungry for dynamic programming. Our calendar of events is sure to tantalize, illuminate, educate, and engage,” promises Aimee Hanna, Executive Director of ASLS.  “There is something for everyone – to keep you cognitively sharp, physically fit, socially connected and emotionally fulfilled.”

The agency recently hosted a two-part class on Pickleball for Beginners, taught by Mo Garcia, Head Pickleball Pro at O’Dell Weeks.  In addition to Pickleball Fundamentals, the agency has also employed fitness experts to teach Ballroom Dancing, Fit4 Life, Functional Training for Seniors, Pilates, Motion Is Lotion and Zumba Gold.

For those interested in Wellness, the agency is offering programming to cultivate a healthier and better you.  Priya Deshpande, MD from the Center for Primary Care, is offering a Culinary Medicine Demo to show participants how to turn their kitchen into a healing paradise.  In addition, the agency is currently offering Memory Café which provides a fun, engaging outlet for those with dementia to exercise their minds while feeling socially included.

Ever wondered why Aiken, SC is the holy grail of the equestrian world?  Expert Billy Benton will be your guide in “History & Horses in Aiken” to give a glimpse into the magic that makes this charming destination a mecca for all things equine.   A short bus ride to Solo Vino on Richland Avenue is also on the calendar for those wishing to expand their wine knowledge in a one-of-a-kind tasting event called “What’s Your Palette?”

For those who have a “green thumb,” there are opportunities to work alongside the Aiken Master Gardeners Club.   Learn the intricacies of creating a rain collection system, starting a compost pile, efficient container gardening, and the importance of plant nutrition.

If you love card games like Bridge, Pinochle and Rummy, then the “Card Playing Club” is for you.  And if you’re musically-inclined, then bring your guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica, or whatever and join our jam band every Tuesday.

“Let’s Go Bingo” is also offered every Monday evening from 6-8 PM.  All cash prizes are awarded to winners and hot concessions are available during this family fun evening.
